Go Al Fresco!

There’s something special about summer, perhaps due to its fleeting nature and we like to make the most of the season.  The weather is warm, the days are long and spontaneous get-togethers abound.  There’s no better way to celebrate the season than dining al fresco. Whether it’s a stylish brunch, an afternoon barbecue or an evening gathering, outdoor entertaining is all about keeping it easy.

  • The Food: Spend more time at the table and keep the menu stress-free.  The key is to choose foods that can be made ahead.  Room temperature food is what summer is all about; think grilled proteins that you can marinade the day before and grilled summer vegetable and grain salads that show off your garden’s bounty.  Finish the night off with a sweet summer sorbet or ice cream with fresh berries.
  • The Drink: When it comes to summer drinks, it’s all about keeping it light and cool.  You want something your guests can sip on all evening without worrying about how much they’re drinking. Our aluminum beverage trough is a summer staple and its rustic elegance is perfect for outdoor entertaining. Keep it simple and throw in some chilled rose and white wine, craft beers, and sparkling water.
  • The Set-Up: Nobody wants to stress over fragile dinnerware.  Durability meets design with an array of melamine dinnerware patterns from classic white, to artisan “pottery,” to playful blues and red gingham checks.  Keep the refills flowing with acrylic drinkware that has the clarity of glass but will not shatter.  Complete the look with easy-to-clean placemats and brightly hued linens.
  • The Vibe: Creating an inviting outdoor space is as easy as your summer dress.  Soften your space with stylish and versatile indoor/outdoor throw pillows and rugs.* Bedeck dreamy summer nights with clusters of glowing, candle-lit hurricanes.  Pro-tip: check-out our refillable pillar candles, they burn with a real flame but never drip messy wax or burn down, so you can use them all summer long.  Finally, adorn your table with unfussy florals.  We’re big fans of summery succulents* in a range of vintage containers or fresh farmers’ market blooms in mix and match vases.
