Mother’s Day Gift Guide

This year, Mother’s Day is looking different than ever before. We find ourselves in challenging times but everywhere we look, we are all in this together, trying to support one another, and to navigate these uncertain times with as much grace as we can muster. At the helm is mom, working from home, juggling homeschooling, cooking 3-meals a day… and then some. As we continue to look forward to a future on the other side of all of this, we are focusing on the positive; there are still special occasions to celebrate, gratitude to be given, and love to share.

We put our heads together (virtually, of course) and came up with a collection of thoughtful and easy-to-give gifts from a distance to remind mom, grandma, or even your gal-pal, that you’re thinking of her, sending love, and looking to brighten her day.

Flower Power

Who doesn’t love receiving a gorgeous arrangement of spring blooms? It might be a bit more challenging to find a florist right now or you may have concerns about sanitizing delicate, fresh flowers. Enter our gorgeous selection of remarkably real faux-botanicals. We’ve designed a collection of cheerful spring arrangements that are easier to maintain than their fresh friends and can withstand a little wipe-down. My personal favorite is our Vietri Hibiscus vase filled with a bouquet of dahlias, poppies, and ranunculus. Best of all, the vase is a beautiful keepsake that can be refreshed with fresh or faux blooms season after season.

A Little “Me Time”

No one could use a little pampering more than mom right now and our collection of personal care gifts is just what the doctor ordered. Gift her a trio of bath salts, body wash and lotion, throw in a glass of chardonnay and an hour of silent bliss and she’ll emerge rested and relaxed. Or send Niven Morgan’s signature collection of nourishing wash and hydrating lotion with our chic, white marble soap dish. It’s a perfect pick-me-up for the powder room or master bath.

Fragrance Factor

We all need a little calm and serenity in our homes — a bedroom, a book-nook, or a bathroom to light a candle and Zen-out for a bit. We’ve stocked up on spring scents in beautiful vessels to help mom find a little inner peace. Fresh from LAFCO, Duchess Peony and Blush Rose, both hand-poured into beautiful blown glass jars (which, by the way, are perfect for re-use when your candle has burned down.) Or, new to the website, an array of Japanese-inspired jar candles, reed diffusers, and home or body mist from Voluspa.

Looking to take gifting to the next level? These handcrafted gifts from artisans around the world will make mom smile for years to come. We can’t think of a nicer way to say, thanks, than our Match pewter “Grazie” keepsake box from Italy. For something rustic yet refined, our hand-forged Rosa votive holder from Jan Barboglio is always in bloom. Or, a classic for all the right reasons, a beautiful, handmade frame with a photo of you… because she definitely wants to see your face right now!

We continue to offer free shipping and local delivery so you can shop from the safety of your home. We’re happy to deliver a beautifully wrapped gift within a 15-mile radius on minimum purchases of $100. If there’s something you’d like that’s not online or just need a little help finding the perfect gift, email us at CustomerService@HomefestDecor for complimentary personal shopping services.

Fast Fashion for the Table

At Homefest, we’re often asked about the latest trends in dinnerware and entertaining. Over the years, we’ve seen a departure from our mothers’ china cabinet with full service for 12 in favor of a bit more personality, durability, and function. Nowadays we want our dinnerware to reflect our personal aesthetic, fit with our busy lifestyle, and we want to know where our products are sourced and about the talented artisans who create them. We are yearning for handcrafted dinnerware that celebrates the authentic and imperfect charm of each unique piece. We want dishes that look great on a formal holiday table yet are equally accessible for a take-out dinner around the kitchen island. With this in mind, we’ve taken a diversified buying approach.

Black and White Kitchen Design Project

Over the course of Homefest’s 20+ years, several customers have asked us for help designing the interior of their home. It wasn’t a service that we originally had planned to offer, but it made sense with our mix of lighting, furniture, artwork, bedding, decorative accessories and area rugs. Since the first request a dozen years ago, we’ve been involved with projects that range from a one-room kitchen re-model to several top-to-bottom total makeovers.

We recently finished a kitchen remodel for a couple of empty-nesters who wanted to open up a small, awkward kitchen and create a more functional space that would become the heart of the home for their large, extended family. We love the way Black and White Kitchen Design Project turned out.  The simplicity of the black and white color scheme is classic and modern at the same time.
